At our last meeting, the PTO voted to cancel the Halloween Carnival. Although the carnival has become somewhat of a tradition in La Vernia, the new rules regarding the distribution of certain foods (candy) to young students made the carnival difficult to host. We are sure that the carnival will be missed but we are focusing our efforts on several upcoming family events for the campus. Hopefully, we will create new and exciting “traditions” to replace the old.
Do you ever wonder what the PTO contributes?
Most recently, the PTO donated $10,000 to the Primary school. This money will be used to purchase the Scholastic Readers that students receive throughout the year, as well as continue with plans for a field track outside the first and second grade wings. A portion of this money is also intended to assist with the purchase of a marquee.
We purchased a 30x30 shade structure for the playground at a cost of
$4200. This structure will provide much needed shade for all children and
teachers.
We have completed the outdoor learning area between the office
and second grade wings. This area includes picnic tables,
art easels, sand/water tables, playhouse, and reading benches. We have fenced
the area
to ensure the safety of children at play!
During the 2001/2002 school year, the PTO purchasing 4 picnic table for our
campus. These tables are not only great for parent/child lunches but also for
rewarding students with the opportunity to eat outdoors with their teachers on
special occasions. These tables cost $250 each and were well worth the
expense. The PTO is proud that we could help!

dedication, these accomplishments would not be possible.

Thanks to the wonderful support of our students and their families, we raised
over $13,000 in a two week time period!! Way to go!!
Take Charge of
Education
Each time you make purchases on your Target charge card, we get money!! This program couldn't be easier. Call Target at 800-316-6142 and designate the primary campus to receive credit for your purchases. Think Target for your gift giving needs! We just received our first check from Target in the amount of $53.13 and would like to thank everyone who signed-up to help!
Verizon Extra Credit for Schools
This is a great new program that earns money for our campus! Just by
selecting Verizon as your long distance carrier, 1% of you bill gets donated to
our school. It is easy to enroll by calling 1-877-X-CREDIT or logging on to
www.verizonld.com/extracredit and signing up. Be sure to designate the Primary
School to receive your credits.
Box Tops For
Education
Save your BoxTops from General Mills products and send them to school with your
child. For each one we send in, our school receives ten cents. The money adds up
quick! Pascalle Bippert is doing a wonderful job running the BoxTops collection.

Halloween
Carnival-2001/2002
Our Halloween Carnival was a wonderful success. Thank you to everyone who was
involved in putting this event together. We raised $1575.23!!
Tupperware Fundraiser-2001/2002
We did very well with our Tupperware Fundraiser at the end of school last year.
We received a check for $2778.95. Thanks to everyone for their involvement.
